'Star Wars: Visions' was forged with a willingness to break the rules

To cannibalize the words of a great fallen Jedi, Star Wars: Visions feels like a first step into a larger world . The new Disney+ gem delivers nine tenet-shattering shorts created by well-known Japanese animation — anime — studios. Together, they represent a fresh and original swerve for a beloved franchise. Individually, they are unique imaginings of a galaxy far, far away, and these shorts speak to the various threads that have made Star Wars such a force in pop culture for more than 40 years. Just look at "The Twins," Visions ' third episode. For all the things that feel deeply faithful to the franchise — the twins themselves, their seat-edging duel, the mysticism-meets-tech fantasy of it all— there's a vivid and gratuitously chaotic vibe that permeates. This is heightened Star Wars, where a person wielding a lightsaber can ride on the nose of a soaring X-Wing Fighter and use the boost of kinetic energy it provides to drive his energy sword through the heart ...

Samantha Bee finds hope for reproductive rights in New Jersey

Texas has effectively banned abortions. Florida may be following suit, with a recently proposed bill that restricts abortions being performed. Suffice to say, reproductive rights are in significant danger throughout the United States. So Samantha Bee set out to find some hope for the cause on Full Frontal — and found a movement brewing in New Jersey. The garden state is working to ensure that reproductive rights are perpetually protected. "Before we lose control of our uteruses forever, one state is fighting back," Bee said. Bee spoke to NJ governor Phil Murphy and Kaitlyn Wojtowicz, VP public affairs at Planned Parenthood Access Fund of NJ. She discovered that they are few of many in the state who are championing the Reproductive Freedom Act (RFA). The act is based on the principles of Roe v. Wade , the historical decision that legalised abortion in America. "It's a law that would forever and always protect reproductive freedom in New Jersey," the gov...

BTS and Coldplay fight anti-music robot planet in 'My Universe' video

When two of the biggest groups in the world team up for a duet, there's going to be an equally ambitious video to go with it. BTS and Coldplay have released their first single together, "My Universe," with a spacey video showing the groups performing within some kind of futuristic radio station as "holobands." Wherever they are in space, they seem to be battling some form of huge anti-music robot planet known as a "silencer," which is trying to shut down their hologram dancing and singing. It all seems like an extension of Coldplay's "Higher Power" video , which saw the group exploring a high-tech trash planet named Kaotica. There's a mini documentary on YouTube if you want to see how the two groups recorded the song. Want more? Watch BTS dance down the aisles of the U.N. General Assembly Hall BTS dance videos to valiantly learn from (or more likely, watch) at home 'BTS World' mobile game is basically BTS fanfic...
