The Chilling "Woman in the House" Finale Explained

The best mysteries are the kind that leave us wanting more, and the season one finale of Netflix's " The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window " left us hooked with a delightfully unexpected celebrity cameo. After chasing down countless leads and discovering that her handyman, Buell, a convicted murderer, has been living in her attic for years, Anna has good reason to believe that everything is not always as it seems. In the season finale, she rushes across the street to Neil's house, convinced that he or Buell must be the killer behind Lisa's disappearance , only to find that Neil's daughter, Emma, was the culprit all along, adding more fuel to Anna's blazing skepticism fire. So when she finally recovers from confronting Emma (read: stabbing her with a broken shard of her casserole dish), rekindles her romance with her ex-husband, Douglas, and has another child with him, it's difficult to believe that her days of stalking

"The Woman in the House": What Happened to Anna's Daughter?

Once you get past the ridiculously long title, there's an underlying sincerity to Netflix's new dark-comedy thriller , "The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window." Inspired by A.J. Finn's 2018 novel, "The Woman in the Window," the dark-comedy series stars Kristen Bell as Anna Fox, a heartbroken mother and wife whose unhealthy coping mechanisms - namely, guzzling bottles of red wine and handfuls of prescription pills - ultimately put her at the center of a bizarre murder mystery . Minutes into the first episode, we see Anna rush out of the house in her robe and slippers to drive her daughter, Elizabeth, to elementary school. Seconds later, the camera cuts to Anna, rumpled and dazed, staring at the school in disbelief as fellow parents look on at her with sympathy and sadness. Are all the judgmental stares a product of her rushed fashion decisions and her hair standing on end? Not quite. Who Is Elizabeth in "The Woman in

Rihanna Is Pregnant and Expecting Her First Child with A$AP Rocky

It's official! Rihanna and her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky , are expecting their first child. The Savage X Fenty entrepreneur debuted her baby bump in New York City over the weekend. Rihanna wore an oversized pink puffer coat with nothing underneath, exposing her belly. She also highlighted her pregnancy bump with body jewelry and low-rise jeans. The singer and the 33-year-old rapper stared adoringly at each other while they walked hand and hand through the city. The entertainers have been linked since November 2020, first sparking rumors of a relationship in July 2020 when the rapper appeared in her campaign for Fenty Skin. Previously speaking about having children, Rocky told GQ in May 2021, "I think I'm already a dad! . . . Nah, but like, I think I'd be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very." In March 2020, Rihanna previously told Vogue UK that she'd like three or four kids in the future. "The only thing

Labrinth Thanks Euphoria's Creators For Welcoming Him on Set

Labrinth appeared on the latest episode of HBO Max's " Euphoria ," and honestly, it was the British-American crossover we didn't know we needed. The singer starred in the show alongside Zendaya and even collaborated on a song with James Blake called "Pick Me Up," which is also featured in the new episode. It's not the first time that Labrinth's music has been featured on " Euphoria " either, as he was responsible for a pretty hefty part of the season-one soundtrack and some more recent episodes of the second season , too. On his cameo in the series, Labrinth said that he's "Never been on American television as a cast member. This was a pretty spiritual experience with the cast and crew that attended - felt like I left my body when we were recording this. Thank you to the @euphoriaHBO Universe and creators for welcoming me on set 💜" The singer also shared a carousel of images from his time on set featuring Zendaya . &quo

"The Woman in the House": What Is Lisa Hiding?

Image Source: Netflix When life gives you new neighbors, you might just find yourself caught up in solving a gruesome murder mystery and accidentally making yourself a suspect. At least that is if you're Anna Fox from Netflix's " The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window ." The dark comedy thriller is a well-crafted parody of the traditional murder-mystery genre , laced with subtle innuendos and plot twists so bizarre we could hardly keep up with what we were seeing. But at the center of the twisted series is a crime so elusive that it consumes Anna's entire life: the murder of her neighbor Lisa, aka Chastity. Who Is Chastity in "The Woman in the Window"? Anna first meets Lisa when she goes across the street to deliver a casserole to her neighbor Neil, a charming single dad. Before she's able to get to the front door, she runs into a woman in a flight attendant's outfit who introduces herself as Lisa, Neil's gir

'Magic: The Gathering's new Japanese-inspired set blends traditional fantasy and futuristic sci-fi

Magic: The Gathering is packed full of fantasy elements, from spells and enchantments to angels and dragons. Now Wizards of the Coast is trying something completely different in the trading card game's next set: futuristic, neon-soaked sci-fi. Set in the Japanese-inspired Kamigawa plane, Magic 's upcoming expansion Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty takes place over 1200 years after it was last seen in 2005's Saviors of Kamigawa set. As the name suggests, technology has significantly advanced since that mythology-focused set, with traditional elements now blending with a high-tech cyberpunk aesthetic. SEE ALSO: 'Dungeons and Dragons' is adding a magic school from 'Magic: The Gathering' Though Magic has played with machinery in previous expansions such as Kaladesh and Mirrodin, it has always stayed closer to fantasy than science fiction. Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty's 302-card set is the first time Magic has explored the sharp, technological look of sci-fi, b

Katy Perry Brought Giant Dancing Mushrooms to the "SNL" Stage

Fresh off her new Las Vegas residency, Katy Perry brought her signature campy style to Studio 8H during " Saturday Night Live 's" Jan. 29 episode, which was hosted by legendary actor Willem Dafoe. Joined by several mushroom-clad dancers, Perry's "SNL" set looked like something straight out of "Alice in Wonderland." Perry stunned in a skintight red latex bodysuit paired with matching fringed chaps and a mushroom top hat as she delivered a flawless performance of her new single, "When I'm Gone," with Swedish EDM producer Alesso. She also performed an acoustic version of 2019's "Never Really Over" while donning a fluffy and ruffled baby blue dress. Chris Redd's 'SNL' bop about late night wake-ups is too real

Anyone with an overactive brain can tell you that the nighttime hours are the best time to spiral. That's the premise of a new Saturday Night Live musical number from Chris Redd. In "Now I'm Up," Redd, along with fellow cast member Kenan Thompson, sings about life's little annoyances and worries that loom too large in the quiet moments before we fall asleep. Existential dread, too-loud ads from free streaming services, mysterious lumps, even a partner's overly long toenails — all of those things and more can pop up out of nowhere and turn a sleepy brain into a suddenly active one. It's a catchy tune, as most SNL musical numbers tend to be, but it's also painfully relatable. https://ift.tt/TESPG2f3r

Willem Dafoe joined the whole 'SNL' cast for a deranged NYC apartment tenant meeting

I've been thinking about the Saturday Night Live cast lately, and how the show has low-key assembled one of the strongest squads of performers it's had in years. Sketches like this one prove it. The latest episode, hosted by Willem Dafoe, delivered a sketch featuring New York City apartment tenant meeting where pretty much every member of the cast not named Colin Jost or Michael Che got a moment to show off their comedy chops. (No Cecily Strong either, sadly.) There's no one highlight to pull out here because everyone brings a little something different to their moment. Newcomer Sarah Sherman makes her saltiness over an unexpected bill hilariously and loudly clear. Veterans Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson get big laughs from subdued moments as an elderly cat-hoarder and a very sexually active ladies man. Pete Davidson and Aristotle Athari both put on funny accents and find the comedy in their unique brands of weirdness. Even Dafoe gets in on the fun as the building

Peyton Manning nerds out on 'Emily in Paris' during an 'SNL' Weekend Update visit

Peyton Manning — as in the actual former Denver Broncos quarterback — stopped by the latest Saturday Night Live to sit down with Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost and talk about a legendary pair of NFL game from the previous weekend. But Manning didn't watch those games, it turns out. He was too busy cranking through an entire season of Netflix's Emily in Paris . So instead of launching into an extended look at two of the most exciting games in professional U.S. football history, Manning broke down the emotional tug-of-war that has Emily caught between her work and her love life. He's got lots to say about her prospects with Gabriel and how Camille could get in the way, and exactly how Alfie could or should fit into that picture. Who needs analysis of earth-shaking football showdowns from one of the biggest talents to ever occupy the quarterback position when that same mind could be put to work analyzing and breaking down the emotional roller coaster that is Emily in Pa

'SNL' hatches a plan to counter Russian disinformation: An absolutely savage high schooler

Saturday Night Live spent its latest cold open sketch weighing in on the Russian-Ukraine conflict, as well as Russia's reputation — earned during the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and all the years that followed — for producing awkward, stilted, but still somehow effective memes and social media drops that promote disinformation. The sketch's setting is the Oval Office, with President Joe Biden (James Austin Johnson) receiving a briefing detailing Russia's efforts to smear Ukraine and convince its citizens that an invasion is desirable. It falls a little flat, given the real-world implications of a potentially looming Russian invasion , but there are some solid moments, including a brief appearance from Pete Davidson and Chris Redd, as the actual Aaron Rodgers and a Russian version of Jake from State Farm. The real winner is the sketch's punchline, a savage, social media-savvy high schooler —"Makayla, spelled the worst way" (Chloe Fineman) — who under

How Brett Goldstein helped heal my pandemic anxiety

I've lost track of how many dizzying, sleep-deprived days I've endured since March 2020. I've struggled with occasional insomnia for years, but as the stress of the pandemic set in, my eyelids began fluttering open at ungodly hours of the morning much more frequently. Sleeping through the night became a rarity as illness, mortality, and the future of humanity consumed my every thought. These past few years I've spent countless nights tossing, turning, and staring at the ceiling while contemplating chaos in solitude. One random Wednesday last August, however, a writer, a comedian, an Emmy winner, a film scholar, and an all-around savior of humanity called Brett Goldstein unexpectedly saved me from yet another pre-sunrise spiral. Mere minutes after my usual 4 a.m. wakeup that day, I committed the cardinal sin of insomniacs and grabbed my phone to scroll through Twitter, where my groggy eyes zeroed in on two words: Free Willy . Goldstein had just tweeted a new episode

Lin-Manuel Miranda didn't recognize his 'Encanto' hit in a hilariously relatable 'Tonight Show' moment

As any career-minded person will tell you, if you work long enough and hard enough, you'll inevitably forget about a few things along the way. Lin-Manuel Miranda had exactly that experience during a Friday appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon . Fallon challenged the Hamilton creator to a Disney-themed game of "One Second Songs," a late show game in which — you've probably figured this out already based on the title alone — competitors must guess the title of a particular song after hearing a one-second clip. The Disney theme introduced a similarly obvious twist: The competition focused solely on musical numbers from Disney movies. Miranda had a solid showing right off the bat, correctly spotting a popular number from Moana for which he has a writing credit. He and Fallon both had no troubles breezing through an easy stretch of clues to start things off. But then Miranda faced his third clue. The one-second clip has no words, just some jangly slice of
