2021 has been a serious year for high profile book adaptations, with the Grishaverse hitting Netflix in grand style in Shadow and Bone, Dune thrilling sci-fi fans at the multiplex, and The Wheel of Time epic set to hit Amazon Prime streaming before the end of the year. However, book readers have a lot to look forward to in 2022 and beyond, as some truly exciting adaptations are in the works! 1. My Best Friend’s Exorcism, Grady Hendrix The height of the "Satanic Panic" in the 1980s is the setting for My Best Friend's Exorcism, a surprisingly heartfelt novel that chronicles the story of two high school friends, one of whom may be possessed by a demon. Considered by many to be author Grady Hendrix's seminal work, this book is being adapted into a film with an ensemble cast featuring Elsie Fisher, Amiah Miller, Cathy Ang, and Rachel Ogechi Kanu. No release date has been announced yet, but the film is expected to come to Amazon Prime sometime in 2022. 2. A Court of Thorns

Wu-Tang: An American Saga is back for a second season, and just like the first, it's packed with drama, a stellar cast , and an incredible soundtrack. Given that the show is loosely based on the real-life Wu-Tang Clan, it should be no surprise that the show features a bunch of tracks from the '90s hip-hop group, but it also includes classic jams from The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, and Bobby Womack. The lineup for the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show is stacked! On Thursday, the NFL announced the performers for Super Bowl LVI , and it's already guaranteed to be a memorable show. Wu-Tang: An American Saga is set in the 1990s and loosely inspired by the formation of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Netflix's new German mini-series could make you think next time you open the Google Earth app. Based on true events, The Billion Dollar Code focuses on two German developers who take Google to court 25 years after they claim they invented a precursor to Google Earth called Terravision. This seems to be inspired by the patent infringement lawsuit filed against Google in 2014 by Berlin-based studio ART+COM, claiming Google Earth's method for "pictorial representation of space-related data" was almost identical to its own system called Terravision. The studio claimed that "Google Earth bears remarkable similarities to ART+COM's commercial system, which was developed nearly a decade prior to Google's introduction of Google Earth," and directly pointed to Google executives "who previously worked for companies that had access to information regarding the implementation of Terravision."
