Katharine, Duchess of Kent, Dead at 92

Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, has died at the age of 92, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday. She joined the royal family in 1961, as the bride of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and cousin to Queen Elizabeth II. She broke from royal tradition in the '90s, becoming a music teacher at a private school and ultimately retiring her 'royal heiness' title in the 2000s. A fixture at Wimbledon for decades, the Palace says Katharine will be remembered 'for her passion for music and her empathy for young people.' A cause of death is not yet public; she is survived by her husband and their three children.
