Kygo Releases Dance Remix of "Higher Love" With Brand New Vocals From Whitney Houston

Picture this: It's 1990 and Whitney Houston is at the peak of her career. She records a cover of Steve Winwood's hit "Higher Love" from a few years prior, but as Rolling Stone reports, she was about to break into the R&B sphere and her team preferred that she didn't release covers. Now, it's 2019 and her posthumous version of the uplifting hit is about to be the song of the Summer. Houston's estate recently teamed up with Norwegian DJ Kygo for a remix of the song, and our playlists are officially complete.

Seven years after her death, Houston's stunning vocals shine throughout Kygo's beat, and Pat Houston, her sister-in-law and executor of her estate, feels it's the perfect time for the song. "The current cultural environment has been thirsty for something uplifting and inspiring," she tells Rolling Stone. "Who better to inspire than Whitney, the most exhilarating vocalist of all time?" She said that "Kygo was the first person that was mentioned. He put his spin on it and did a fantastic job."

And he absolutely did the song justice. "I was trying to make it sound like something that she would've done, but also something that's my style," he told the site. Check out the song above and add it to the top of your Summer playlist.
