Queen Latifah just gave us a taste of her role as Ursula in ABC's upcoming live adaptation of The Little Mermaid, and if her evil laugh is anything to go by, we're in for a real treat. After seeing a first look of her in character in the trailer, we couldn't wait for more snippets.
The Emmy (and SAG and Golden Globe) Award winner stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to chat about her upcoming role as Ursula, which she sounds just as pumped to play as we are to watch. Colbert was quick to ask whether she was nervous at all for the live aspect of the show, to which she candidly replied, "It's terrifying, it's exhilarating, it's exciting." She said that while it may be scary, she's excited to have that "feeling when it's live," as well as sharing the performance with 500 people in the audience. She also revealed that she doesn't even have an understudy.
Queen Latifah summed up her role by passionately saying, "I'm going to come in there and I'm going to shut Ursula down," followed by the most incredible evil laugh. Trust us, skip to the end of the video just to hear that laugh - you won't regret it. One fan in the comments section wrote, "Queen Latifa [sic] got me home clapping, forgetting I'm not even in the audience," and, well, same.
