Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Heads to Disney+ 2 Months Early For the Galaxy's Favorite Day

This year's May 4 has a lot going down. The annual Star Wars celebration is getting an extra boost thanks to Disney+'s plan to release an abundance of content, including the final film of the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker. Released back on Dec. 20, 2019, the J.J. Abrams-directed film was originally scheduled to be released online in July. But with theaters shutting down in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and viewers turning to streamers for their main source of entertainment, the film becomes the latest Disney project to hit the subscription series earlier than planned.

But The Rise of Skywalker isn't the only treat for Star Wars fan on May 4. The House of Mouse will also be dropping its new docuseries Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian and the series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the same day. So not only will fans be able to watch all nine films of George Lucas's Skywalker saga in one place for the first time ever, but they'll also be able to dive into the world of two successful spinoffs. As if you needed a better reason to stay at home to celebrate the galaxy's favorite holiday!
