Clare Crawley's Season of The Bachelorette Is Set to Begin Filming With Safety Precautions

Clare Crawley's season of The Bachelorette will start filming after its postponement amid coronavirus concerns, according to The Hollywood Reporter. On June 26, the outlet reported that the series will begin production "soon" at a private resort in Southern California where Clare and the contestants will quarantine together. The cast and crew will also spend the entire season living on-site at the location and will be tested before arrival. Examinations and check-ups will continue throughout filming.

On March 13, Warner Bros. Television Group first confirmed the season's delay in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, saying, "With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of our productions, but the health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based."

Hours after the announcement, Crawley took to Instagram to share her thoughts. "Well hello! Talk about most dramatic season ever!" she wrote. "In all seriousness, Everyone's health is the most important priority at this time, and as I'm sure you've heard, we are pressing pause for now on filming The Bachelorette. 🌹 We are taking it day by day and even hour by hour as this is so unpredictable. All I know for sure is that my heart is so full from all the love and support this far, and am still so excited for my journey to begin! I've waited 38 years for these moments, what's a little bit longer, right! 😉❤️xoxo."

Two days before the postponement, The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison spoke about COVID-19's effect on the show, telling ET, "We're not going to be doing the elaborate all-around-the-world tour, because you just can't right now. So, we're going to stay obviously around the United States, and closer to home when we go on set. There are massive amounts of handwashing stations. We are having a part of a trailer where we will have a doctor. You can be checked out. So, there's a ton of precautions being taken."

In an April follow-up, he gave ET an update about the The Bachelorette's schedule change. "It's crushing us right now," Harrison said. "We know that this too shall pass and there are bigger problems and bigger fish to fry, but we really wish we were making an incredible show with Clare. I mean, we would be over halfway done [with filming by this point], and Clare might be narrowing down finding the love of her life. How exciting - and I hate that that is stolen from her at this particular time."

Harrison then shared his hopes for filming again, teasing the summer resumption. "Maybe we do it all this summer, but if things don't go as planned with this virus and with this quarantine, maybe we won't have time to do it all," he added. "So we have to think, 'OK, what is our priority?' It's trying to create any content in the interim, and then let's get The Bachelorette. In this quarantine time, I am never going to say never to anything again. It is unprecedented. We have never dealt with this, our schedule - like everyone's - is ripped apart. We had a calendar. It is completely in the shredder."

Crawley's season was initially set to premiere on May 18, but we'll have to wait and see how that date is affected by the new filming schedule. Until then, check out the 32 contestants and read up on all the latest news in the Bachelor universe.
