After Supporting Small Businesses, Beyoncé's Impact Fund Is Taking on Housing Assistance

Beyoncé is expanding the ways she's helping others during this exceptionally challenging year. Just before the holidays, the star announced her BeyGood foundation would be offering $5,000 grants to those facing evictions or foreclosures as a result of the looming end of the federal eviction moratorium, which was extended to Jan. 31 as part of the just-approved COVID-19 relief bill.

"Beyoncé is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most," stated the press release. "Many families are impacted, due to the pandemic that resulted in job loss, sickness and overall economy downturn. This holiday season, while many are stressed with what they will do next regarding their housing, we are proud to share some GOOD news. Beyoncé is giving $5k grants to individuals and families facing foreclosures or evictions."

The timely housing assistance is the second phase of the BeyGood Impact Fund, which was established in July to benefit hundreds of Black-owned small businesses in the form of $10,000 grants. In addition, Beyoncé helped support groups supplying household essentials and COVID-19 testing, and she and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also donated $6 million to various organizations providing mental health services.

The application process will begin on Jan. 7, and 100 recipients will be selected by the end of the month. Fortunately, a second round will commence in February.
