Remember Scream? Of course you do. The looming presence of Ghostface, the constant, chilling ring of the telephone, and the wildly star-studded cast.
The satirical slasher film ruled the horror genre in the 1990s, becoming a cult franchise and a Halloween movie-night fixture. And its influence hasn't gone away just yet. With the fifth Scream movie set to release in 2022, the series is truly back on the radar. Buuuut, in the meantime, Scream superfans can stay in the original house, with small-town sheriff Dewey Riley (AKA David Arquette).
The Northern California house is located in the town of Tomales, and was the Woodsboro home of Stu Macher (played by Matthew Lillard), serving as the final showdown for Wes Craven's first Scream film. Part of Airbnb's special Halloween offerings, it's available for overnight stays over the course of three days. This includes Oct. 27, 29, and 31. Oh, and it's also only $5 a night.
Every memorable trope of the pop culture phenomenon is included in the house: a phone line (Ghostface may be in touch), the garage which served as the location for a certain gruesome murder, and the television set playing classic horror films like the characters did. The set will be able to play all four Scream films on VHS. So '90s. Plus, Arquette will be there virtually to greet guests, complete in his signature Riley attire.
Here's a preview of the house, the ultimate spooky getaway for horror aficionados. Let the screams commence.
Bookings open from Oct. 12th at 6 p.m. BST / 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT at airbnb.com/halloween. You're going to have to be extremely quick as this is not a lottery or contest. You can...just book it.
