'The Batman' star Jeffrey Wright gives Stephen Colbert some hints about the movie

Jeffrey Wright talking about

Batman has had his hands somewhat tied with Justice League responsibilities of late, but this year marks a return to his roots.

Chatting to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Jeffrey Wright spoke about the upcoming movie The Batman, and his role as Lieutenant Gordon in the story.

"It's year two in Batman's story, so pre-Commissioner days," Wright explains. "So I'm Lieutenant, which is exciting because it gives him an opportunity to be in the middle of things. He's still a cop on the street."

And as for what we can expect from the film?

"The story really harkens back to the origins of DC, the detective comics of it all," Wright says. "It's a bit of a murder mystery, it's a bit of a thriller, it also happens to be a Batman movie."

The film itself also has a pretty impressive cast, starring Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, as well as Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne himself.

The Batman lands in theatres March 4.
