'Downton Abbey: A New Era' heads to France in lavish new trailer

Two older women smile and laugh.

Downton Abbey: A New Era is almost in theaters in the United States, and the latest trailer for the upcoming film promises drama, fantasy, and a vacation to the South of France.

The Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) has inherited a villa in France, a fact which stuns her family. "You never thought to turn it down?" Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) asks.

"Do I look as if I'd turn down a villa in the South of France?" the Dowager retorts, proving once again that she is, in fact, the best.

As the gang heads off to France to investigate this mysterious villa, Hollywood comes to Downton Abbey to film a new motion picture, resulting in a Singin' in the Rain style plotline about filming a talking motion picture. Sure, it's a bit indulgent, but it's Downton — when is it not?

Downton Abbey: A New Era is in theaters May 20.
