It's been a wild ride for Saturday Night Live vet Pete Davidson. He debuted as a babyfaced 20-year-old who laughed in sketches and is now, well, super-celebrity Pete Davidson.

The comic stopped by the Weekend Update desk during SNL's season finale on Saturday, in what promised to be his final appearance after the show announced he, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney would all be leaving once the year is done.

Davidson did his typical self-deprecating schtick while saying goodbye. He also shared some of the nuggets of wisdom passed down by Lorne Michaels, SNL's creator and longtime showrunner.

"I'll never forget this. I called him when I got engaged and said, 'Lorne, I just got engaged to Ariana Grande after dating for two weeks,'" Davidson said. "And he said, 'Oh...hold on for dear life.' It's a true thing he said."

Davidson also joked about not understanding how he ended up on SNL in the first place.

"Like if anything, I should inspire hope," he said. "Literally anyone could be on Saturday Night Live."

The comic did close with a heartfelt goodbye to the show and, yes, of course there was single Kanye reference thrown in for good measure.
