Harry Styles Wipes Away Tears at Final Madison Square Garden Show

Harry Styles got teary-eyed on stage for the final show of his month-long slate of performances at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Sept. 21 The "As It Was" singer wrapped up his 15-show run at the venue and was surprised with a permanent banner that will hang from the rafters to acknowledge his accomplishment.

A visibly emotional Styles was joined by CBS host Gayle King during the encore to present the singer with the banner, which will become a permanent fixture at the iconic venue to mark his impressive run of sold-out events. The "Love On Tour" shows began Aug. 20, with a couple of breaks so that Styles could attend the Venice Film Festival to promote his upcoming film "Don't Worry Darling" and the Toronto International Film Festival for the "My Policeman" premiere.

Styles's banner joins those of Billy Joel and Phish, who have also been immortalized in the Garden's rafters. "We think you are walking joy, walking happiness," King told Styles as she wore a feather boa on stage, the accessory that was handed to those in the crowd to celebrate the final show. Styles welled up at the huge moment as the 20,000-strong crowd screamed and cheered. As he thanked the crowd, Styles watched the banner rise towards the roof and was later given a tissue to wipe away his tears.

James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, said in a statement: "Selling out 15 consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden is a massive accomplishment and reinforces Harry Styles as one of the most impactful artists of his generation. It is a testament to Harry and his fans that a banner celebrating this remarkable achievement will hang from the rafters alongside some of the most legendary artists and athletes in history."

Styles's girlfriend, Olivia Wilde, was also spotted by fans dancing and jumping to "Music For a Sushi Restaurant" with friends, wearing a white maxi dress and a matching white feather boa. King left the star to finish his show by simply saying, "We don't want to say goodnight to you, Harry!"
