Selena Gomez celebrated turning 30 by hanging out with one of her oldest friends, Taylor Swift. On Friday, the "Only Murders in the Building" star posted two photos from her birthday celebration on Instagram, both of which featured her and Swift celebrating her big day. Gomez used the caption on her post to put her own spin on the classic "30, flirty, and thriving" line from "13 Going on 30." She changed the line to: "30, nerdy and worthy."
It's clear from the photos that the longtime pals had a blast spending time together in honor of Gomez's birthday. In the first photo, Gomez can be seen hugging Swift while the "Champagne Problems" singer holds up three fingers and makes an "0" with her other hand. The second photo features a giggling Gomez, and Swift giving the camera a big thumbs up.
Given just how long they've been friends, it's not surprising that Gomez spent her milestone birthday with Swift. The two have been pals since they dated two of the Jonas Brothers at the same time back in 2008. In a 2017 radio interview with KIIS FM UK, Gomez revealed they met while Swift was dating Joe Jonas and Gomez was dating Nick Jonas. "We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical," she explained. "It was amazing, because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships."
Their friendship has been going strong ever since. From walking red carpets together to Swift making a virtual guest appearance on Gomez's HBO Max cooking show "Selena + Chef," the longtime friends always support each other. In fact, Swift once said their friendship may be the longest one either of them has ever had.
"It's been the longest one I think either of us had really," the singer told E! News in 2014. "When your life changes and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is is different from what other people think your life is. And your life is commented on and your life is written about and fictionalized and all that. Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we've gone through."
After more than a decade, it's clear Swift and Gomez are not only still close, they're also more than ready to take on their thirties together.
