For those in a nostalgic mood and ready for some comforting '90s sitcoms, Full House is at the top of many people's lists. The story of a single father trying to raise his daughters while having no clue what to do is timeless and although the humor doesn't always hold up now, it's still a beloved show.
Thankfully for fans, Fuller House has many Easter eggs and that makes for an enjoyable viewing experience. But sometimes going back and re-watching old episodes of the original series is the only way to scratch that nostalgia itch. It's fun to compare the pilot to the other episodes of this show, which aired for eight seasons.
10 Changed: Uncle Joey And Jesse Aren't Used To Being Around Kids
Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) and Jesse (John Stamos) are pretty different in the pilot when compared to how they act in all of the other episodes.
In the first episode, they aren't used to being around kids, and changing a diaper is a massive deal for them. They're not sure that they can make it or that they'll be able to help Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), but of course, by the end of the episode, everyone's a big happy family. It's definitely true that these characters learn very quickly and before too long, they love D.J. (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen), and can't imagine living without them.
9 Stayed The Same: Danny Is A Clean Freak Struggling After His Wife's Death
Danny Tanner doesn't experience much character growth throughout Full House's run, which is pretty charming.
In the pilot, fans are introduced to this character as a clean freak who is struggling after his wife's tragic death. This stays the same throughout the show, which always leans into Danny's jokes about keeping a sparkling home.
8 Changed: Aunt Becky Isn't Part Of The Family Yet
It's hard to remember a time when Lori Loughlin's character, Aunt Becky, wasn't living in the Tanner home or married to Uncle Jesse. She's such a big part of the family, but in the pilot she isn't around at all.
Becky appears in the second season when she and Danny are co-hosting their morning show, and she gradually becomes a main character.
7 Stayed The Same: D.J. Wants More Independence
There might be some confusing D.J. Tanner storylines, but for the most part, the character is sweet and does her best to be a happy part of the family.
In the pilot, D.J. wants to have her own bedroom and is sick and tired of sharing a bedroom with Stephanie. D.J.'s quest for independence is something that stays the same throughout the sitcom, whether she's dating Steve (Scott Weinger) or someone else.
6 Changed: Jesse Learns To Be More Emotional
In the pilot, Danny hugs Jesse quite a lot and tells him how meaningful it is that he's living with them.
Fans love the very charming Uncle Jesse and in the pilot, he's truly too cool for school — or for Danny's hugs and kind words. Jesse feels uncomfortable showing any kind of affection and he doesn't want to be sappy. Over the course of the show, though, this changes as Jesse becomes more comfortable with being emotional. After helping raise the girls and meeting Becky and having their own kids, he develops a lot.
5 Stayed The Same: D.J. And Kimmy Gibbler Are Best Friends
While the Tanners can't handle Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), D.J. loves her and the two are best friends.
Kimmy is introduced in the first episode as D.J. chats on the phone with her, so fans learn that the two are close. Kimmy stays part of D.J.'s life throughout the whole show and she even has a major role in Fuller House.
4 Changed: Michelle Is A Baby
In the Full House pilot, Michelle is only a baby, so the action and story revolves around her but she doesn't have much to do.
Fans love that the Olsen twins both played Michelle, and as she grows up, she has some funny and adorable plotlines.
3 Stayed The Same: Everyone Learns A Lesson
By the end of the episode, D.J. has learned the lesson that she has to speak up and tell people when she's upset about something. She shares with her dad that she feels like she has to say goodbye to everything and everyone in her life. After her mom died, she couldn't even have her very own bedroom but had to bunk with her sister Stephanie.
Danny gives her a pep talk, which he is definitely famous for, and D.J. feels better by the time the credits roll. This is something that has always stayed the same because with Full House, everyone always learns a lesson about life.
2 Changed: Jesse Isn't A Dad Yet
There might be some strange and confusing Nicky and Alex moments on Full House, but it's heartwarming to watch Jesse become a father and raise his twins.
But in the pilot, Jesse doesn't have any children, and he definitely isn't ready to start a family. This is a really big change as having his twins rocks his whole world.
1 Stayed The Same: The Goofy, Cheesy Tone
Some Full House jokes don't hold up well in 2020 but one thing that always remained the same on the show is the goofy and cheesy tone.
At the end of the first episode, the characters sing Michelle a song, and she laughs, loving it. The adults will always do anything that it takes to cheer up the kids, and the children are always happy to spend time with them. Although everyone grew up by the eighth season of Full House, no one was ever too old to hang out with their family, and that's very sweet.
