Disney+ is the latest and greatest streaming service for fans of the MCU, classic Disney movies, Star Wars, Disney's animated films, and more recently, movies released by 20th Century Fox. With literally thousands of television episodes and hundreds of movies, Disney fans have been able to binge a massive number of hours over 2020.
But not only are there enough movies and tv shows to last a lifetime, but Disney has also included a lot of behind the scenes content to show fans how many hours go into making them. From director's roundtables to b-roll footage here are the top ten behind the scenes featurettes to watch on Disney+.
10 Spaced Out
Spaced Out, which can be found in the 'Documentaries' section, takes viewers through five 2-3 minute clips of what the Hubble Telescope has captured so far across the galaxy. With easy to follow dialogue, this is a quick and fun (but also educational) look at the realms beyond Earth.
Fans are presented with real-life images of the Milky-Way, the jaw-dropping art of other galaxies, and even a quick insight into how the Hubble Telescope works.
9 The Scavenger & The Stormtrooper
The Scavenger & The Stormtrooper can be found in the 'extras' tab of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Daisy Ridley and John Boyega star in a behind-the-scenes look at casting the actors to be the frontrunners of the latest Star Wars trilogy.
The two talk about the first time they auditioned together, the secrets they had to keep, even from each other, and their bonding over the filming of the seventh installment of the franchise where they first met. There's also much more Star Wars content on the way such as Obi-Wan!
8 Disney Insider
Found in the 'Disney Documentaries' tab is the most extensive behind the scenes look at Disney parks, toys, and movies. With content ranging from making the upcoming Mulan movie, a look at the Animal Kingdom, and Walt Disney Video games, there's very little ground this behind the scenes look doesn't cover.

7 The Imagineering Story
Go behind the scenes of The Disneyworld parks themselves in this six-episode special where Disney quite literally pulls back the curtain on their latest technologies that are used to bring the rides and parks to life. The show also explores the difficulty of originally opening Disney World parks way back in 1955.
Learn something completely new in The Imagineering Story which can be found in the 'Disney Documentaries' menu.
6 Avatar: Creating The Banshee
Everybody knows that Avatar is one of the greatest visual effects movies of our time and it's often overlooked how much goes into making each individual element. The Banshee was the main flying creature that featured very heavily in the movie and therefore had to be expertly crafted to be as stunning as it could whether it was flying, screeching, or standing still.
Being located in the 'extras' tab of Avatar, lead designer Neville Page and writer/director James Cameron talk you through what real-life creatures inspired the look of the Banshee and the thought that went into the mechanics of how they move and look when on screen.
5 Disney Prop Culture
Located in the 'Originals' section of Disney+ Prop Culture includes eight 30 minute episodes into what goes into making your favorite props from your favorite movies. With episodes ranging from Pirates of The Caribbean to Tron, Dan takes you to some of the filming locations across the world.
You can also see what props have been left in their locations for locals to see and what locations are shells of where props used to be before prop-collectors came to take them away.
4 Marvel Studios: Expanding The Universe
After the success amongst the fandom of Assembling A Universe comes the sequel Expanding The Universe which can be found in the Marvel section, and gives fans a look into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Endgame.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige delves into the upcoming Disney+ shows including What If?, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, and many more. Feige also teases what television characters will make it into the movies in phase five of the MCU.
3 Into The Unknown: Making Disney's Frozen 2
Similar to Avatar, fans may not realize how many hours went into making one of the most successful Disney movies of all time. Into The Unknown can be found in the 'Suggested' tab of the Frozen 2 movie menu and includes six 30 minute episodes diving into how the VFX artists crafted the movie.
It's not surprising that the VFX work purely for the 4 minute 'Into The Unknown' song segment took around a year to complete after seeing how carefully the artists had to craft and revise Elsa's movements such as tiny leg position changes to making her jump slightly higher. A true shock to the system.
2 Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian was instantly a hit when it first aired as one of the greatest Star Wars shows starring Pedro Pascal as the titular character. This behind the scenes featurette which can be located in the 'Series' menu of the Star Wars section gives fans a look into the amazing new technology that replaced green-screens for the making of the show to provide a far more immersive environment for the actors.
Including eight 20-30 minute episodes, the series covers everything from scoring and casting the movie to the practical effects and the long-lasting impact of George Lucas. The Gallery ramps up the excitement for the second season if that was possible!
1 Avengers: Infinity War: The Director's Roundtable
What sounds better than a roundtable of the MCU's top directors coming together to talk about their creative visions for their movies? Not much. In the 'Extra's' menu in the Avengers: Infinity War movie menu, there is a director's roundtable with the Russo's, Joss Whedon, Jon Favreau, Ryan Coogler and Peyton Reed.
Each director talks about their own experience with Marvel as well as their shared love of the source material as well as providing a few tidbits fans may not have known about their favorite Marvel movies.
