How to Watch "West Side Story" Without Going to Theaters

"West Side Story" premiered in Dec. 2021 and quickly reached critical acclaim. The Steven Spielberg adaptation features Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler as star-crossed lovers Tony and María, Ariana DeBose as María's best friend, Anita, David Alvarez as Sharks leader Bernardo, and Mike Faist as Riff, the leader of the Jets. Rita Moreno, who famously portrayed Anita in the original 1961 film appeared in the remake as Valentina. The musical love story is taking award season by storm.

At the Golden Globes, Zegler won best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy, and DeBose won best supporting actress in a motion picture. "West Side Story" also earned seven nominations at the 2022 Oscars, as well as nominations at the SAG Awards and NAACP Image Awards for DeBose.

While the movie is still showing in theaters, many have been wondering if it will be streaming soon. The answer is yes! On Feb. 9, Disney+ and HBO Max announced that the film will make its debut in the US on March 2. Disney+ will also have the movie available in most international countries on March 2 followed by Taiwan on March 9 and and Japan on March 30. Additionally, ABC's one-hour special "Something's Coming: West Side Story – A Special Edition of 20/20" is now available on Disney+.
