Netflix's tense 'Lou' trailer sees Alison Janney on the hunt for a kidnapper

A woman sits in a car with her dog on the passenger seat, looking out the window at another woman.

Why has it taken this long for Alison Janney to be the lead in an action movie?

Watching the Netflix trailer above for Anna Foerster's Lou, which sees her helping a mother (Jurnee Smollett) find her kidnapped daughter, it just seems to work so damn well.

Janney plays a grouchy loner who clearly has an unusual past, but when her neighbour comes asking for help in the dead of night it's fair to say things...escalate.

Cue violent beat-downs, exploding lighthouses, and a rope bridge moment that would make Indiana Jones nervous.

Sign us up.

Lou is available to stream on Netflix from Sept. 23.
