Netflix's 'Thai Cave Rescue' trailer is a tense retelling of a true story

A woman stands at the front of a small crowd, held back by a soldier in the pouring rain.

In the summer of 2018, an international rescue operation was held after 12 members of a Thai boys' football team and their 25-year-old assistant coach were trapped underground in Tham Luang Nang Non cave following heavy rainfall and flooding.

Now, following E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin's documentary, The Rescue, and Ron Howard's film, Thirteen Lives, the story of their rescue has been recreated as a Netflix limited series by showrunners Michael Russell Gunn and Dana Ledoux Miller, starring Thaneth Warakulnukroh, Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, and Pratya Patong.

From the looks of the trailer above the story will have multiple perspectives, from that of the boys themselves to the divers putting together their rescue plans, and the terrified parents praying for their safe return.

Thai Cave Rescue: Limited Series is streaming on Netflix from Sep. 22.
