AirPods Pro Vs Elite 85t: How Jabra's ANC Earbuds Compare To Apple's Pro?

While the new Jabra Elite 85t wireless headphones won't be available for purchase until later in the year, they already appear to be very comparable to Apple's AirPods Pro, in terms of both price and features. In fact, in spite of AirPods Pro's popularity in the wireless headphones market, Jabra’s newest headphones offer more, for less.

The Jabra Elite 85t have an even more advanced noise-canceling system than previous Jabra true wireless headphones, due to the new ANC chip being more efficient at removing surrounding noise than previous chips. Additionally, the Jabra Elite 85t have adjustable noise cancellation. This allows users to toggle between total noise-canceling and their desired lack of noise-canceling, called HearThrough, by tapping the button on the headphones. Essentially, users can set their desired level of noise-canceling through a sliding scale.

AirPods Pro have noise cancellation, as well as Transparency Mode, allowing the user to hear the world around them, similar to HearThrough. AirPods cannot be customized to specific levels of sound-canceling though, they can only turn it on and off. AirPods Pro and Jabra Elite 85t have very similar wireless charging cases, with both able to continue charging the earbuds throughout the day. In addition, both cases can also be charged with wireless chargers. Jabra’s earbuds can stay charged for up to 5.5 hours without using the charging case, and up to 25 hours with the charging case. This charge time is also lengthened if the user doesn’t enable the advanced active noise cancellation. In comparison, AirPods Pro can stay charged for up to 4.5 hours without the charging case and up to 24 hours with the charging case. The AirPods Pro do charge more quickly though, with an hour of listening time every five minutes charged, this compares to the Elite 85t taking fifteen minutes to provide one hour’s worth of charge.

The Jabra Elite 85t feature six microphones to ensure that call quality is high, and that the wind doesn't impact on the listening experience. AirPods Pro have mesh protection over their mic to protect against the wind as well. Jabra Elite 85t additionally have a sound equalizer in the app that allows users to customize the sound even more. The AirPods Pro work exclusively with Siri, whereas the Jabra Elite 85t can work with Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant. Both the AirPods Pro and the Jabra Elite 85t are resistant to water, and the Jabra Elite 85t comes with a two-year warranty against water and dust. The AirPods Pro come with different sized earbuds for different ears, while Jabra’s earbuds are made with a secure fit in mind.

The Jabra Elite 85t are going to be released this November for $229, which makes them even cheaper than the $249 AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro are high-quality wireless headphones, but the Jabra Elite 85t have them beat in many ways. They’re slightly cheaper, and in nearly every category they equal AirPods Pro, if not surpass them. Specifically, the customization offered with the sound equalizer and the varying ANC levels helps to really sets them apart from Apple's AirPods Pro.
